Today's Monsanto Story Part 3 Clarence Thomas and Hillary Clinton? More

Monsanto is becoming a lightining rod for the larger issues of food safety and corporate control. Almost two weeks ago I posted some video from Chicago's March Against Monsanto and then this past weekend I did an update explaining some of the reasons why there were millions of people all across the world out marching that day. Almost everyday I keep coming across more stories so I will keep passing them on

Monsanto GMO Science Now Being Rejected By The NY Times

Posted by: The Liberty Beacon™ Staff
“Genetic engineering in agriculture has disappointed many people who once had hopes for it.”
As in: the party’s over, turn out the lights.
Bittman explains: “…genetic engineering, or, more properly, transgenic engineering – in which a gene, usually from another species of plant, bacterium or animal, is inserted into a plant in the hope of positively changing its nature – has been disappointing.”
As if this weren’t enough, Bittman spells it out more specifically: “In the nearly 20 years of applied use of G.E. in agriculture there have been two notable ‘successes,’ along with a few less notable ones. These are crops resistant to Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide (Monsanto develops both the seeds and the herbicide to which they’re resistant) and crops that contain their own insecticide. The first have already failed, as so-called superweeds have developed resistance to Roundup, and the second are showing signs of failing, as insects are able to develop resistance to the inserted Bt toxin – originally a bacterial toxin – faster than new crop variations can be generated.”

Our second story is for those who want to take direct action and find out what companied use GMO products in producing their food. From the Occupy Monsanto site.

THE GROCERY STORE BLACKLIST: 12 FOOD COMPANIES TO AVOID (AND 95 SNEAKY ALIASES)

By Fritz Kreiss

"Take for example, the earthily-packaged “natural” foods that are showcased in your grocery store aisles.  They cost twice as much, have obscure brand names, and tout their health benefits and natural sources.  You can almost smell the freshly tilled soil when you pick up the box.
Unfortunately, this is nothing more than corporate sleight-of-hand.
Many of the products that seem so good are actually just subsidiaries of the companies that were most complicit in blocking GMO labeling, aided and abetted by everyone’s favorite purveyor of death,Monsanto. (Monsanto, incidentally, donated $7,100,500.00 to the fight against the labeling of GMO-containing products.)  Don’t forget that Monsanto is now above the law due to the Monsanto Protection Act, a traitorous rider that Senator Roy Blunt managed to attach to a bill that was subsequently signed into law by President Obama. (you know, that guy in the White House, who made the labeling of GMOs one of his 2007 campaign promises?)"
You can find the list here.

And finally a graphic that shows the infiltration of our government by former Monsanto executives. They span a gaumet from Clarence Thomas to Hillary Clinton
