Vintage Neon On The First McDonalds, Des Plaines Il.

Published by ChiTownView on Dec 26, 2012
In the Chicago northwestern suburb of Des Plaines is the location of the first Mc Donalds opened by Ray Kroc. This followed his buying out of the Mc Donald brothers who opened the original restaurant in 1940 in San Bernadino Ca.

This one is located at 400 Lee St. and was opened in April of 1955 then torn down in 1984. This replica was built from the original blueprints and contains all original equipment. It doesn't serve food and is only open to visitors during the summer. But this neon sign is pretty sweet and the look inside at the small menu w/ the 1950's prices shows us how much things have changed over the years.

We have lots of other neon for your viewing enjoyment our Chicago neon tour can be found here. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL79FB2EA9F6A7E993&feature=plcp
